To look into allegations of sexual harassment at workplace, HME Dept reconstitutes complaint committee
The Health and Medical Education Department has reconstituted a complaint committee to look into the allegations of sexual harassment of female members at workplace.
As per order, Principal Government Medical College Jammu Dr Shashi Sudan will be presiding officer of the committee.
“In supersession to the Government Order No. 412-JK(HME) of 2022 dated 17.06.2022 issued on the subject and in pursuance of Section 4(1) of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, sanction is, hereby, accorded to the re-constitution of the Internal Complaints Committee comprising of the following to register, enquire into and dispose of the complaints received, if any, regarding sexual harassment at workplace against female members of the Health & Medical Education Department & Subordinate Offices.” Reads an order issued by Secretary Health and Medical Education.
As per order, Smt Lotika Khajuria, Controller, Drug & Food Control Organization, J&K, Dr Sanjeev Sharma Deputy Secretary, health and Medical Education Department, representative of NGO to be nominated by the Social welfare department, J&K and any other member co-opted by the presiding officer will be members of the committee.
“The committee shall submit to the Government in Health and Medical Education Department its report on each complaint received by it regarding sexual harassment against women employee(s) of Health and Medical Education Department including its sub-ordinate offices for consideration of the Government within a period of 10 days from the date of completion of the Inquiry and such report be made available to the concerned parties; and quarterly/annual reports about the total number received/ enquired into and action taken on the same. The Committee shall meet as often as may be required.”
