Srinagar: National Conference patron and three-time chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said that Kashmir will meet the same fate as Gaza if India doesn’t initiate talks with Pakistan.

While talking to reporters, Abdullah said that if the animosity between India and Pakistan continues then Kashmir may turn into Gaza.

“I already quoted many times Vajpayee as having said that, unlike friends, neighbors can’t be changed. If we live like neighbors and friends then we will develop as great nations and if we live like enemies then we can’t move forward,” he said.

He said that even incumbent Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi said that war is not an option and that all issues need to be resolved through dialogue. “Where is the dialogue and why we don’t talk? Nawaz Sharif who is likely to be the new prime minister of Pakistan is yearning for a dialogue,” he said.

Dr Farooq Abdullah as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said that he is sorry to say that if (Kashmir issue) is not resolved through talks then Kashmir may turn into Gaza and we will suffer as the people of Palestine have been suffering.
