Deployed for yatra duty, 350 companies of paramilitary forces to stay in JK for assembly polls
Srinagar: At least 350 companies of paramilitary forces stationed along the Amarnath Yatra route, which were scheduled to return after August 19 upon completing their pilgrimage security duties, will remain in Jammu and Kashmir for the assembly elections, according to Hindustan Times.
The forces staying behind include all Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) units. However, the Border Security Force (BSF) will redeploy most of its personnel to the Indo-Bangladesh border, which is on high alert due to the political unrest in Bangladesh.
Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.
