Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah killed in Beirut airstrike, claims Israel
The Israeli military claimed on Saturday that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had been killed in an airstrike on Beirut. However, Hezbollah has not yet provided any information about its leader’s status or whereabouts since the attack.
Military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani confirmed Nasrallah’s death on X (formerly Twitter), while Captain David Avraham also told news agency AFP that Nasrallah had been “eliminated” following the Friday strikes in the Lebanese capital.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reinforced the claim with a post stating, “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world.”
An unnamed source from Hezbollah told AFP that they had lost contact with Nasrallah since Friday evening, though they did not confirm whether he had been killed.
The attacks followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations, where he vowed to continue military operations against Hezbollah. The conflict has intensified, with over 720 people reported killed in Lebanon since Monday, according to Lebanese health authorities.
The UN also noted that the number of displaced individuals in Lebanon has more than doubled to 211,000 due to the escalating violence.
