In a televised debate in New York, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance and his Democratic counterpart, Tim Walz, faced off. Walz, a Democrat, warned that Iran’s actions would have consequences, while Vance stressed the US’s unwavering support for Israel.

The Minnesota Governor Walz said, “the expansion of Israel and its proxies is an absolute, fundamental necessity for the United States.”

However, he later said that he made several verbal errors during the debate. Walz also stumbled over other points, such as when he mistakenly claimed to have befriended “school shooters” rather than the families of shooting victims, The Wall Street Journal reported.

As per the report, he later clarified his comments and admitted to misspeaking, stating, “I’m not perfect” and acknowledging that he sometimes gets “caught up in the rhetoric.”

Walz’s slip-ups included a confusing explanation about his experience in Hong Kong during the pro-democracy protests of 1989, where he ‘mistakenly’ implied that he was present during the protests, though he later admitted he arrived after them.
