Body of missing army personnel found in Anantnag, say officials
Anantnag: Body of a territorial army personnel who went missing in Shangus area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag has been recovered by armed forces in Kokernag forests, sources told news agency KNO.
Sources said that two army personnel, belonging to Territorial Army, were missing from the forest area in Anantnag during an anti-militancy operation that was launched on October 8. However, one of them managed to escape, even after injuries.
The injured personnel was rushed to a medical facility for necessary treatment and his condition remains stable, the sources told the news agency.
Massive search operations was launched in the area and body of the missing army personnel has been recovered in the forests. A police officer said that the body has been located. He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, resident of Mukdhampora Nowgam Anantnag, GNS quoted a top police officer as saying.
Earlier, in a post Chinar Corps of Army, wrote, “Based on intelligence input, a joint counter terrorist operation was launched by IndianArmy alongwith JmuKmrPolice & other agencies in Kazwan Forest Kokernag on 08 Oct 24. Operation continued overnight as one soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing. Massive rescue and search operation is in progress.”
