AAP extends support to NC, submits letter to LG Sinha
Srinagar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Friday that it would support the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) following the victory of the NC-Congress alliance in the recently held assembly elections in the Union Territory.
AAP has already submitted its formal letter of support to the Lieutenant Governor.
The AAP has one MLA in Jammu and Kashmir, with party candidate Mehraj Malik winning the Doda assembly seat by a margin of 4,538 votes against BJP’s Gajay Singh Rana.
The National Conference-Congress alliance secured a clear majority in the Union Territory, winning 49 seats in total, with the JKNC taking 42 and Congress securing 6.
On Thursday, the JKNC unanimously elected Omar Abdullah as the leader of its Legislative Party.
