Mumbai: As the investigation into the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique progresses, one of the accused revealed to Mumbai police that the contract was to kill both Baba Siddique and his son, Zeeshan Siddique. The 66-year-old Baba Siddique was shot dead near Zeeshan’s office on Saturday evening.

According to the Mumbai police crime branch, Zeeshan had also received death threats in the days leading up to the incident. One of the three suspects in custody disclosed to investigators that both Zeeshan and Baba were targets, and they were instructed to fire at anyone they encountered.

In response to these threats, security for Zeeshan has been increased. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has claimed responsibility for the crime, is reportedly targeting both Zeeshan Siddique and actor Salman Khan. To ensure Zeeshan’s safety, the Rapid Commando Platoon (RCP) has been deployed to his Bandra (West) residence, and police presence around the area has been heightened, with barricades set up to control access.

Meanwhile, the third suspect in the case, Pravin Lonkar, was arrested in Pune. Pravin is the brother of Shubham Lonkar, who had posted on social media claiming responsibility for Baba Siddique’s murder. Police were searching for Shubham in Pune but arrested Pravin for allegedly helping his brother by providing lodging.

Although Shubham’s post indicates his involvement, police are investigating multiple angles, including the possibility of a contract killing, political or business rivalry, or disputes over a slum rehabilitation project. Fifteen teams have been formed to track down those who supported the shooters.
