Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will continue conducting strikes across Lebanon, including in the capital city, Beirut.

His remarks came after visiting a military base that had been attacked by a Hezbollah drone, killing four Israeli forces personnel and injuring dozens more. The drone assault marks the deadliest single attack on Israeli troops since the start of the conflict on October 7.

Meanwhile, the US is set to send advanced missile defence systems to Israel, CNN World reported. The report said that Israel had requested the THAAD anti-missile system several weeks ago to strengthen its air defences amid rising tensions. The Pentagon has confirmed it will send the system, along with US troops to operate it, following Iran’s recent missile attack on Israel.

In Europe, the UK, France, Germany, and Italy have voiced concern over the safety of UN peacekeepers stationed in southern Lebanon. During Israel’s ground incursion into the region, several peacekeepers were injured after coming under Israeli fire. European leaders urged caution to ensure the safety of UN personnel as hostilities continue to escalate in the region.
