Six countries issue travel advisories amid rising India-Pakistan hostilities; details here
As military tensions escalate between India and Pakistan following India’s Operation Sindoor, countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and China have issued updated travel advisories, urging citizens to avoid conflict-prone regions.
United States:The US Embassy in Pakistan issued a security alert citing military activity and closed airspace. Americans were reminded of the ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory near the India-Pakistan border and advised to leave conflict zones if possible or shelter in place. The embassy also urged US citizens to keep a low profile, remain alert, and follow local instructions.
United Kingdom: The UK Foreign Office advised against all travel within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border and 10 miles of the Line of Control in Kashmir. British nationals were warned of possible flight disruptions due to Pakistan closing its airspace and were told to consult airlines and follow updates from local authorities.
China: China advised its citizens to steer clear of areas near the conflict zone.
Singapore: Singapore’s MFA urged its citizens to postpone all non-essential travel to Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan, citing a volatile security situation. Singaporeans were asked to register with the MFA, avoid large gatherings, and follow local news and official guidance.
Australia: Australia’s SmartTraveller raised its risk level for travel to India, recommending a high degree of caution. The advisory cited potential airport closures in northwest India and stressed the importance of following official alerts.
Canada: Canada advised its citizens to avoid travel to Jammu and Kashmir and within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border. The advisory warned of potential artillery fire across the LoC, violent clashes, and possible terror attacks. Canadians were urged to be prepared to shelter in place and heed evacuation orders if needed.
