Tehran: Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Tehran in the near future, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, confirmed during a meeting with Russian political activists.

Jalali noted that ties between Iran and Russia have now reached the level of a strategic partnership, marked by frequent high-level exchanges. “We will soon witness Putin’s visit to Tehran,” he said.

In May, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani had also indicated that Tehran was preparing for Putin’s anticipated visit.

Earlier, in April, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a message from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to President Putin during a visit to Moscow. The message outlined Iran’s positions on key bilateral, regional, and global issues.

During their meeting, Araghchi highlighted the significance of a proposed Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, underlining Iran’s commitment to enhancing ties with Russia across all sectors.

President Putin reaffirmed the importance of strengthening Iran-Russia cooperation, describing it as essential for advancing mutual interests and maintaining regional and international stability.

The two sides also discussed developments related to Ukraine, Iran’s nuclear programme, and broader geopolitical challenges.
