Travel only in designated convoys: JK police advise Amarnath Yatris
Srinagar:Kashmir Police has issued guidance for pilgrims participating in the Amarnath Yatra, urging them to travel exclusively in designated convoys. The annual 38-day pilgrimage commenced on Thursday amid heightened security arrangements.
In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police stated, “Advisory for Yatris of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025. All pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 are advised to use only the designated convoys originating from Bhagwati Nagar, Baltal, and Nunwan Base Camps.”
“The Yatris arriving well in advance of their scheduled date are advised to arrive reasonably prior to their day of yatra,” the statement added.
The advisory comes as authorities focus on enhancing security measures and readiness for the pilgrimage, which attracts thousands of devotees annually to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir.
Additionally, 17 medical camps have been established at langar sites across the Ramban district, along with mini hospitals equipped with facilities including laboratory services, ECG units, and cardiac monitors at key locations such as Yatri Niwas Chanderkot and Lambhar Ground. Ambulances have been deployed at strategic points to ensure swift medical assistance.
The 38-day pilgrimage concludes on August 9, following two routes: the traditional 48-kilometre Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper 14-kilometre Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The first batch of pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2.
