Jammu: A man and his sister were arrested on Thursday after police seized heroin valued at Rs 70 lakh from their possession in the Miran Sahib area on the outskirts of Jammu.

As per officials, the arrests occurred during routine checks at Balol Naka when a scooty was stopped by a patrolling team. Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, approximately 550 grams of heroin were recovered. The suspects were identified as Gurjeet Singh from Tanda, RS Pura, and his sister Navneet Kour.

“The heroin was hidden in their possession. We have seized the scooty and arrested both persons,” a senior police officer stated.

An FIR (No. 91/2025) has been registered at the Miran Sahib police station under Sections 8, 21, 22, 29, and 60 of the NDPS Act.

A thorough interrogation is currently in progress to expose the larger drug network behind the supply and distribution of the narcotics. “Efforts are underway to identify other members of the racket and track the supply chain,” the official added.

Alongside the criminal case, a financial investigation has also been initiated to trace the flow of money from the drug trade and pursue further legal action.

The siblings’ mother, Rajinder Kour, was arrested earlier in June by Punjab Police in a separate drug trafficking case registered at Shiata police station, Hindustan Times reported.
