Kashmiri poet and writer Shahid Budgami passes away; Akbar Jaipuri Memorial Committee expresses condolences
Srinagar: Shahid Budgami, a poet, writer, and lyricist from Kashmir, has passed away. The Akbar Jaipuri Memorial Committee deeply mourns the passing of Budgami, who was also a close asscoiate of Syed Akbar Jaipuri.
Budgami made many contributions to Kashmiri and Urdu literature. His book ‘Kashri Marsi Hund Tawareekh’ tells the story of Marsiya poetry in Kashmir and help keep this tradition alive. From his home, ‘Hussain Manzil’, he regularly held Hussaini Mushairas with love, care, and dedication, the committee said in a statement.
The Jaipuri family remembers how he would often call Akbar Jaipuri on the landline to share his poetry, a gesture that showed their deep bond through words and faith. His gentle nature and love for poetry will be greatly missed.
“He loved Jaipuri, and we loved him. May his memory live on”, the committee said.
