Monsoon session: Parliament resumes after ruckus; Op Sindoor, Trump’s ceasefire claim among key issues
New Delhi: Proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha resumed Monday afternoon after a brief adjournment caused by Opposition uproar demanding a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
With 21 sittings scheduled over the next 32 days, the Monsoon Session is expected to see intense debates on national security and foreign policy, including US President Donald Trump’s claims regarding a ceasefire initiative.
The government has listed seven pending bills and eight new ones for consideration and passage during the session. Key among them are The Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, The National Sports Governance Bill, and The Manipur GST (Amendment) Bill.
The Houses will break for Independence Day celebrations on August 12 and reconvene on August 18. The session is scheduled to conclude on August 21.
