Srinagar: The debris of a Pakistani missile, fired into Dal Lake in Jammu and Kashmir during Operation Sindoor, has been recovered, NDTV reported.

The remnants were discovered on Sunday during a routine clean-up drive, originating from the missile launched in May during the operation.

The live missile components will be deactivated and relocated, with one part handed over to the Air Force, Jammu and Kashmir Police told NDTV. Authorities noted that, had the missile detonated, it could have caused a major disaster, as Dal Lake is a key tourist spot in Srinagar.

Earlier in May, shortly after India launched Operation Sindoor, a missile-like object struck deep inside Dal Lake.

Officials had said that loud explosions shook the city on the morning of May 10, with smoke rising from the lake’s surface as the object landed.
