Raids conducted on residences linked to JeI, Hurriyat: Police

Srinagar: Srinagar Police on Monday conducted coordinated search operations at multiple locations linked to persons allegedly associated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Hurriyat Conference.

The police said that searches were carried out at the residences of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat @ Goga Shahib @ Mushtaqul Islam, son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, a resident of Kashi Mohalla, Batamaloo.

Ashraf Sehrai, son of Mohammad Shumasdin, a resident of Baghat. Mehrajuddin Kalwal @ Raj Kalwal, son of Mohammad Amin Kalwal, resident of Rainawari Kalwal Mohalla, at present, Hamza Colony, Kenihama (presently in NIA custody).

Zameer Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, a resident of Gulshan Nagar, Nowgam.

The searches were conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures. During the operations, various materials, including literature and photographs allegedly linked to these outfits, were seized. (GNS)
