Israel has violated the Gaza ceasefire agreement 47 times since it took effect on Friday, October 10, leading to 38 Palestinian deaths and 143 injuries, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.

In a statement, the office accused Israeli forces of committing “serious and repeated breaches” of the truce, describing them as “a clear violation of international humanitarian law.”

The report said that Israeli troops opened fire on civilians, launched shelling and airstrikes, and detained several residents throughout the Gaza Strip, actions that, it said, highlight Israel’s continued aggression despite the declared ceasefire.

The office further claimed that tanks, armoured vehicles, drones, and remote targeting systems were used near residential areas, affecting all parts of the Gaza Strip.

Holding Israel “fully responsible” for these violations, the media office urged the United Nations and ceasefire guarantors to intervene urgently to protect civilians and prevent further escalation.

The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel was brokered through international mediation on Saturday, October 9, following a proposal by US President Donald Trump. The truce, which began the next day, officially ended two years of conflict.

Under the terms of the deal, Israel was required to pull back its forces to the “Yellow Line,” return Israeli captives—both living and deceased—and release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told Al Jazeera that around 70,000 tonnes of unexploded ordnance remain scattered across the enclave due to Israeli bombardments.

Genocide in Gaza has killed at least 68,116 people and wounded 170,200 since October 2023. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023 attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.
