Srinagar: As many as 50 MLAs have cast their votes in the Rajya Sabha elections so far.

According to officials, 50 MLAs had voted in the RS elections by 10:30 am. Of them, 20 are from the BJP, 28 from the National Conference, and one each from the PDP and Congress.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was the first MLA to cast his vote.

The voting commenced at 9am with MLAs arriving at the Legislative Assembly complex to cast their votes at three polling booths set up inside the premises.

Voting will continue until 4pm, and counting is scheduled to begin at 5pm.

While NC will comfortably win three seats, all eyes are on the outcome of the fourth seat, where NC and BJP have 28 votes each.

Unless there is cross-voting by MLAs from political parties or independents, the chances of the BJP winning the seat are virtually impossible. (KNO)
