JK finance dept extends life certificate deadline for pensioners till Dec 15
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has extended the deadline for submission of the Life Certificate or Digital Life Certificate by pensioners and family pensioners till December 15, 2025, describing it as the final opportunity to comply with the mandatory requirement.
As per official instructions, pensioners drawing retirement benefits through banks and treasuries are required under the Treasury Code to submit their Life Certificate every year in November. The certificate is necessary to ensure continuity of pension disbursement and verification of beneficiaries.
This year, the Finance Department, in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited, launched a special campaign for the generation of Digital Life Certificates to make the process easier and more accessible. Officials said that out of nearly 2.5 lakh pensioners across Jammu and Kashmir, around 1.80 lakh have already submitted their Life Certificate either digitally or through physical mode.
However, about 70,000 pensioners are yet to complete the formalities, making them ineligible for receiving pension from the month of November 2025 if the requirement remains unmet.
To avoid inconvenience to the remaining pensioners, the Finance Department has allowed an extension up to December 15, 2025, clearly stating that no further relaxation will be granted. Pensioners and family pensioners have been advised to submit their Life Certificate, preferably through the digital mode, to the concerned bank or treasury on or before the given date.
The circular further warns that failure to comply with the deadline will lead to the stoppage of pension disbursement from December 2025 onwards. The order was issued by the Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Finance Department, and dated November 26, 2025.
Officials have appealed to all left-out pensioners to complete the process immediately to avoid disruption in pension payments. [KNT]
