New Delhi: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Thursday announced that Passport Verification Records (PVR) are now available on the DigiLocker platform, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs.

DigiLocker, a secure cloud-based platform under the Digital India programme, allows citizens to store, share, and verify digital documents. The integration of PVR is aimed at simplifying document management, reducing reliance on physical records, and promoting paperless, contactless services.

Citizens can access their verified passport records under the “Issued Documents” section of their DigiLocker account via the web portal or mobile app. The records can also be digitally shared with authorised requesters, enabling instant, consent-based verification without the need for attested photocopies.

The service ensures authenticity and protection against tampering, enhancing transparency and trust in government processes. Officials said the move is a significant step toward modernising citizen services and strengthening India’s digital public infrastructure.
