Militant associate held with arms and ammo in Awantipora, says police

Srinagar: A joint team of armed forces has arrested a militant associate in the Wuyan Khrew area of Awantipora and recovered arms & ammunition from his possession.

In a statement, the police said that the Awantipora Police, along with Army 50 RR and CRPF 85 Bn, during a CASO at Wuyan Khrew, arrested one militant associate identified as Javid Ahmad Hajam, son of Abdul Rashid Hajam, a resident of Gulab Bagh Tral. During the search, arms and ammunition, including a pistol, five live rounds of ⁠pistol ammunition were recovered from his possession.

The statement added that Hajam is involved in providing logistics support and transportation of arms & ammunition to the militants in the Pampore, Tral and Awantipora areas of the police district Awantipora.

Accordingly, a Case under relevant sections of law has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated, reads the statement. (GNS)
