Anantnag: The authorities in Anantnag district have banned trekking, camping, hiking and other similar outdoor activities in Margan Top, Chauhar Nag and Sinthan Top areas, citing security and public safety concerns.

According to an order, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag said that inputs from police and security agencies indicated security vulnerabilities in certain high-altitude and forested areas falling under Sub-Division Kokernag.

He also mentioned the recent incidents in which some persons attempted to cross police checkpoints during late-night hours, raising serious safety concerns.

He said that unrestricted movement and outdoor activities in these sensitive areas could adversely affect public safety and security. The order will remain valid for two months unless withdrawn or extended.

The Station House Officer Larnoo has been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order and regulate movement at all check-points, while the general public has been strictly advised to comply, with authorities warning that any violation will invite action under law. (KNO)
