Srinagar: Light to moderate intensity snowfall is expected to continue across the Kashmir region on Tuesday, with weather conditions likely to improve from around evening, officials said.

Day temperatures in the Kashmir plains are expected to rise by a few degrees, which may cause dry snow to turn wet and even result in rainfall in some areas.

In the Chenab Valley region, moderate to heavy intensity rain and snow showers are forecast throughout the day, with improvement expected from late evening or night.

Light to moderate rain and snow showers are also likely over the Poonch-Rajouri belt, with weather conditions expected to ease from late afternoon hours.

The Jammu plains are expected to witness light to moderate rain and snow showers during the day, though continuous rainfall across all areas is not likely.

Meanwhile, flight operations at Srinagar Airport appear unlikely on Tuesday, with several cancellations expected due to adverse weather conditions.

The Srinagar-Jammu highway is also unlikely to reopen before Wednesday as persistent snowfall is forecast along the Banihal-Qazigund stretch, officials said.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated with official advisories.
