Two militants killed in Udhampur military operation, area under surveillance: Army
Udhampur: Two militants were killed in an ongoing military operation with joint armed forces in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Wednesday, officials said.
The operation began on Tuesday after armed forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Additional reinforcements were rushed to the spot soon after contact was established. Officials said the terrorists were holed up inside a cave, where they were later eliminated.
Meanwhile, the White Knight Corps, in a post on X, said that based on specific intelligence information provided by Jammu and Kashmir police, troops of CIF Delta and White Knight Corps launched a focused counter-terror operation in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh, in coordination with JKP and CRPF, who reinforced the cordon to prevent any escape.
“Contact with the terrorists was established on Tuesday, and they were continuously engaged to stop them from breaking the cordon. Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists have been successfully neutralised,” it said, adding that the operation demonstrated seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and high levels of professionalism.
The Army stated that the operation has concluded successfully, while the area remains under surveillance.
