Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday announced that his government will provide six free LPG cylinders per year to all Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking in the Assembly, as per the news agency Kashmir News Observer, the chief minister said the scheme will cover the poorest of the poor, ensuring that every AAY family in the Union Territory receives six free LPG cylinders annually.

The initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on economically vulnerable families and promoting the use of clean cooking fuel. The AAY category is part of the Central government’s food security programme that targets the most disadvantaged households.

The move is expected to benefit thousands of families across the Union Territory by reducing monthly expenses and dependence on traditional fuels.
