For Khelo India Winter Games, forces deployed across Tangmarg and Gulmarg

Tangmarg: A major deployment of armed forces has been witnessed as the administration has beefed up security in Tangmarg town and the surrounding Gulmarg area in view of the Khelo India Winter Games scheduled to be held from February 23 to 26, officials said on Wednesday.

A high-level meeting, chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi, along with senior Army and paramilitary officials, was held earlier this week in Gulmarg to review the security arrangements.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among various agencies to ensure the safety of athletes, officials and visitors.

Officials said adequate deployment has been made at key locations, including the main venues, entry and exit points and major roads.

Armed forces are also conducting thorough checks at the Temporary Check Post (TCP) Tangmarg on Thursday as part of the heightened vigil, they said. (KNS)
