Civilian toll rises in Iran as aid agencies report more than 200 killed

Posted on

More than 200 people have been killed across Iran following the strikes, according to the country’s Red Crescent, with casualties continuing to mount as rescue teams search damaged sites.

Iranian officials said at least 108 people died when a girls’ school was hit during the attacks, an incident that has drawn sharp condemnation domestically. There has been no confirmation from Washington or Israeli authorities regarding the reported strike on the school, which is said to be located near a Revolutionary Guard base.

Videos circulating online showed scenes of panic, with civilians running from blast zones as emergency sirens sounded. Witness footage captured the sound of explosions followed by screams and confusion in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations earlier described the strikes as indiscriminate and warned that civilian losses were climbing rapidly.

The growing humanitarian toll adds a volatile dimension to the military confrontation, increasing international concern that continued exchanges could deepen civilian suffering while making diplomatic de-escalation far more difficult.
