Refrain from provocation and unlawful activities: JK Police urge citizens amid tensions
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday appealed for peace and restraint in view of recent developments in the Middle East, saying incidents of violence and disruption of public order will not be tolerated.
In a statement issued on March 2, police said while citizens have the right to express themselves peacefully through lawful means, acts such as rioting, stone-pelting, clashes and property damage are unacceptable.
The police said violence and confrontation with forces personnel often result in injuries, loss of life, restrictions and closure of educational institutions, causing hardship to families, traders, students and daily wagers.
Police urged all sections of society to refrain from provocation and unlawful activities, warning that strict legal action will be taken against instigators and those involved in violence.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting life and property.
