Army opens fire after suspicious movement along LoC in Rajouri, say officials
Jammu: Army personnel opened fire after noticing suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district early Wednesday, officials said.
According to reports, forces deployed in the Rajouri sector picked up suspicious movement around 4 am in the forward area along the LoC.
On noticing the movement, the troops opened fire and launched an area domination exercise, they said.
The area was subsequently cordoned off and a search operation was initiated to ascertain the presence of any infiltrators, officials said, adding that reinforcements were rushed to strengthen the cordon amid suspicion of militant presence.
Residents of some border villages in Rajouri reported hearing gunfire and a few explosions during the early morning hours, they said.
There was no immediate report of any casualty on either side, officials added. (KNS)
