Fresh US-Israeli strikes kill 15, injure 41 in Iran
At least 15 people were killed and 41 others injured in separate US-Israeli strikes across two Iranian provinces, officials said Tuesday.
In the northwestern Zanjan province, four people died and 26 were wounded early Tuesday when an administrative building at a religious site was hit, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported.
The strike, which occurred around 5 a.m. local time (0130 GMT), targeted the office building of the Hosseinieh Azam Zanjan mosque, quoting deputy governor Ali Sadeghi.
Sadeghi said the injured were shifted to hospitals, while debris clearance and search operations were ongoing. He added that the attack also caused damage to the site’s inn, library, and nearby shops, Xinhua reported.
In a separate incident, 11 people were killed and 15 others injured in a strike on a residential area in Mahallat County in central Markazi province, according to deputy governor Hassan Qamari. The attack took place Monday night, with three children and two women among the victims.
On February 28, Israel and the United States carried out joint strikes on Tehran and other cities, killing Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military officials and civilians.
Iran retaliated with multiple waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel as well as US bases and assets across the Middle East.
