Srinagar: Armed forces have busted an interstate Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant module in Srinagar with the arrest of five persons, including two Pakistani militants, officials said on Tuesday.

The operation, which is part of a larger crackdown on militant networks, saw the Jammu and Kashmir Police extend its anti-militancy efforts to Punjab in coordination with central agencies, they said.

Based on specific intelligence inputs and digital intercepts indicating the presence of a LeT network beyond the Union Territory, the police launched the operation, which led to the arrests, the officials said.

Investigations are underway to ascertain possible links between the arrested terrorists and local overground networks, they added.

Further details are awaited as the operation is still in progress, the officials said. (KNS)
