Uri residents foil theft attempt, hand over accused to police

Baramulla: A major theft attempt was foiled by locals in the Saidpora area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

According to reports, two men were caught red-handed along with a vehicle and later handed over to the police station Uri, where they were taken into custody.

The duo was allegedly attempting to steal electric wire near Saidpora Road. They have been identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmed Khan, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and a resident of Dardkote, and Muneer Ahmed Dandroo, a resident of Srinagar.

A senior police officer confirmed the incident and said a case has been registered, with further investigation underway. (GNS)
