Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Mirwaiz and Hurriyat Conference leader Umar Farooq on Tuesday remembered the victims of the Pahalgam attack on its first anniversary, expressing grief and solidarity with the bereaved families.
In a post on X, Mirwaiz said the day brings back painful memories, not only of the Pahalgam attack but also of similar incidents over the past three decades, including Gaw Kadal, Zakoora, Hawal, Sopore, Wandhama, and Chittisinghpura.
He said thousands of lives have been lost to the conflict, adding that such anniversaries reopen old wounds for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reaffirming the people’s commitment to peace, Mirwaiz said their faith in non-violence and a dignified, lasting resolution through dialogue remains strong. He expressed hope that such tragedies would become a thing of the past.
