US vessel transits in Strait of Hormuz

The Deputy Speaker of the Iranian parliament, Hamid Reza Haji Babaei, said Iran has received its first revenue from tolls levied on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The fees have been deposited into the Central Bank of Iran, the news agency reported, without disclosing the amount.

According to the BBC, another senior Iranian MP, Alireza Salimi, told Tasnim, “I have heard from reliable sources that Iran has collected fees from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”

“The amount and fees collected from each of these ships vary depending on the type and amount of cargo and the level of risk they carry, and Iran determines how and to what extent these fees are collected. We determine the rules,” Salimi said
