Six wooden beams and seven raw logs were seized.

Sangerwani: The Pulwama police foiled an attempt to conceal illicit forest timber, recovering a substantial quantity during a raid in the Sangerwani area.

Acting on specific inputs, a team from Police Post Sangerwani launched a raid at Badi Behak on Sunday, where timber had allegedly been hidden by Liaqat Ahmad Doie, son of Nizam-ud-Din Doie, a resident of Sonabanjer. Officials from the forest department were also part of the operation.

During the search, police seized six wooden beams and seven raw logs. The recovered timber was later handed over to the forest department for further action.

An FIR (76/2026) has been registered under Section 303(ii) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 26 of the Forest Act. Further investigation is underway.

The police said strict action will continue against those involved in activities harming natural resources and urged the public to report such incidents.
