ITBP’s first all-women team scales Mount Everest
New Delhi: In a historic feat, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has announced that its first-ever all-women mountaineering expedition successfully scaled Mount Everest, marking a major milestone for the force and the country.
According to the ITBP, all 11 women climbers reached the 8,848-metre summit via the South Col Route on May 21. The first summit was recorded at 6:52 am.
Calling it a “proud moment for India”, the force said the expedition showcased the courage, endurance and determination of women personnel in high-altitude mountaineering.
The achievement marks the first time an all-women ITBP team has successfully summited the world’s highest peak.
