Khan Sir gets temporary protection from arrest in Patna firing case
A Patna court has granted interim protection from arrest to educator and YouTuber Faizal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, in connection with a firing incident outside his coaching institute last week.
The anticipatory bail plea was heard by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, who stayed Khan’s arrest and scheduled the next hearing for June 20. The court also directed the police to submit details of Khan’s criminal record, if any, along with an updated case diary.
Khan is accused of instructing his security guards to fire at a crowd during violence outside his Khan Global Studies (KGS) coaching centre in Patna. The case has drawn attention because, despite being named in an FIR under charges including attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act, he has not been arrested.
The incident occurred on the night of June 2 in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat area. According to police, a group allegedly linked to the Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute vandalised the KGS premises, threw stones, and assaulted a security guard, who suffered a head injury.
The original complaint, filed by KGS manager Kanhaiya Kumar Singh, named Gyan Bindu director Raushan Anand and several others. It alleged that the attackers damaged property, threatened staff, and warned they would destroy the institute. Police later arrested Anand and two other suspects.
Authorities believe the clash may have stemmed from rivalry between coaching institutes following Bihar Police constable recruitment results, with competing claims over student success rates.
Initially, Khan claimed that multiple rounds of gunfire were fired outside the institute by people associated with a rival coaching centre, although police first denied any shooting had taken place. However, the investigation shifted after videos emerged allegedly showing two KGS security guards firing weapons outside the premises.
The guards were arrested and reportedly told investigators that they acted on instructions from Khan and others. Their statements led to the case against Khan, which is currently under investigation.
