New Delhi: US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he became India’s longest-serving elected prime minister.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump hailed Modi’s achievement and described him as “a strong, healthy, and wise man.”

“Congratulations to my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on becoming India’s longest-serving Prime Minister — and a great one he is,” Trump wrote.

Modi crossed the milestone with 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing the tenure of India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Trump said Modi would continue to achieve success in the years ahead, calling him a leader with “many years of greatness and success” before him.

Responding to the message on X, Modi thanked the US president for his warm wishes and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

“I look forward to working with you to further advance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, for the benefit of both our nations and the world,” Modi said.

Netanyahu also congratulated Modi, referring to him as a “dear friend” and praising his leadership in a special video message marking 12 consecutive years in office.

“Congratulations on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. You’ve transformed India. You’ve strengthened the bond between India and Israel. And you’ve earned the admiration of millions and millions around the world,” Netanyahu said.

Modi’s milestone comes as he completes 12 uninterrupted years in office, making him the longest-serving elected prime minister in India’s history.
