Iltija Mufti placed under house arrest

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has alleged that she and her family had been placed under house arrest on the eve of Martyrs’ Day, while questioning the government’s claims of “normalcy” in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a post on X, Iltija said, “We have been placed under house arrest on the eve of Martyrs Day for reasons best known to JK Police. This is the normalcy they claim to have established in Kashmir?”

She further alleged that the local government was “hand in glove” with the police, accusing it of using law enforcement “to demolish homes and place opponents in detention when convenient.”

The authorities had not immediately responded to Iltija’s claims.
