Heavy rain likely in JK between Aug 9-11; Met issues advisory
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness intermittent rainfall and thundershowers over the next 10 days, with heavy rainfall and brief intense showers expected at some places between August 9 and 11, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said on Thursday.
According to the forecast, one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places from August 6 to 8, with brief intense showers likely at a few places.
From August 9 to 11, a few spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at most places, with heavy rainfall or brief intense heavy showers possible in a few districts.
The weather is likely to remain partly wet from August 12 to 15, with light rain or thundershowers expected at many places and brief intense showers possible at a few locations.
The Meteorological Centre has advised caution, particularly between August 9 and 11, when heavy rainfall or brief intense heavy showers may occur in some districts.
It also warned that torrential rain and brief, intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods and landslides at vulnerable locations.
Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert during periods of intense rainfall.
