Judge transferred after viral video shows her confronting biker in road-rage incident

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has transferred Malur JMFC Judge Gayathri to the JMFC Court in Humnabad, Bidar district, with immediate effect, days after expressing serious concern over her alleged conduct during a road-rage incident involving a motorcyclist.

The transfer order was issued by High Court Registrar Chandrashekar Reddy.

The controversy began after a video showing the judge confronting a biker on a public road went viral on social media. According to allegations, the incident occurred after the motorcyclist, identified as Vinay, overtook the judge’s Toyota Innova.

The judge allegedly followed the biker before confronting him and engaging in a heated argument on the road, triggering criticism on social media.

An FIR was subsequently registered against Vinay at Malur Police Station. The motorcyclist later approached the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of the case, alleging that the FIR had been falsely registered against him.

During the hearing, a bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna reportedly expressed strong displeasure over the circumstances surrounding the registration of the FIR. The court questioned the manner in which the criminal case was initiated and directed the High Court Registrar to take appropriate action against the judicial officer.

Following the court’s directions, the High Court administration transferred Judge Gayathri from Malur to Humnabad with immediate effect.
