Heat have allegedly signed a 2-year deal, totalling nearly $13 million, with Klay Thompson, who was just waived following a buyout from Dallas.

The second year on Thompson’s contract would then essentially be a player option off of the deal. He should be available to be claimed after he clears waivers.

The Mavericks decided to buy out Klay’s remaining contract, of which the latter portion of $17.5 million would have expired in 2026-27; his last two seasons came with Dallas after he was traded from Golden State to the Mavericks earlier in 2024.

Thompson previously scored 12.9 points in his time with Golden State. He also averaged 40.6% from three-point range in his time with the Warriors and is second all-time in three-point field goals, sinking 2,899 during his illustrious career.

Thompson, who is a five-time All-Star selection and four-time NBA Champ and has been able to convey that he brings an offensive aspect that the Mavericks’ younger core. Which includes already talented young talents Giannis and Adebayo, could use, reports Bleacher Report.

“Klay is one of the best players and competitors of his generation. And we are grateful to have had him be a part of the Mavericks,” Mavericks President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri told the media.
