Two undertrials arrested in POCSO cases escape from Srinagar’s central jail, say officials
Srinagar: Two undertrials facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act allegedly escaped from the Central Jail in Srinagar, PTI reported quoting officials on Sunday.
The two were identified as Farman Khan, a resident of Rajasthan, and Mukhtar Ahmad Gujjar, a resident of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Khan faces charges under Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act, pertaining to “penetrative sexual assault”, in a case registered at Lar police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Gujjar faces the same charges in a separate case registered at Soura police station in Srinagar.
Th police have launched a massive manhunt to trace and apprehend the two, officials said. Look-out notices have also been issued at all exit points of Kashmir, with a reward announced for credible leads, according officials.
