Former India opener Virender Sehwag’s son Aaryavir Sehwag has been included in the Indian Under-19 team for the first time for the home series against Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Thursday.

The 18-year-old will play in the Indian Under-19 One-Day side for three matches against the Australian Under-19s, which begin on September 18 in Rajkot. He is not part of the side for the two multi-day games.

Aaryavir, a right-handed batsman and leg-spinner all-rounder, is currently featuring for West Delhi Lions in the 2026 Delhi Premier League.

He previously earned fame with a score of 297 against Meghalaya during the 2024 Cooch Behar Trophy. The Indian squad for the limited-overs leg against Australia is also a reunion of the sons of two Indian stalwarts, as Rahul Dravid’s son, Anvay Dravid, a wicketkeeper-batsman, has also been included in the squad.

Their respective fathers last represented India together in January 2012. Three One-Day matches will be played in Rajkot on September 18, 21 and 23 respectively. Rajkot will also be the venue for the first of the two multi-day matches.

Ahmedabad will host the second multi-day game. Lakshya Raichandani will lead the One-Day squad, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as his deputy.
