Two injured in Russian overnight airstrikes on Kyiv, Ukrainian officials say

Two people were injured in Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv, the National Police of Ukraine wrote on Telegram.  As a result of Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv, a 9-storey residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district caught fire and several private houses and an administrative building were damaged. Two residents from another damaged house sought medical assistance, Ukrainian media reported.

Emergency services are working to evacuate people trapped in destroyed homes and rescue their pets. Russia’s new missile and drone attack on Ukraine began late Wednesday and continues this morning.

In recent days, Russia has increased its shelling of cities across the country. Kyiv and the surrounding region have been particularly hard hit. Numerous apartment buildings, warehouses, and other civilian objects have been damaged or destroyed.

Yesterday’s attack came days after the biggest raid by Russia against Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks that left several people dead.

Ukrainian officials warned that Russia’s repeated missile and drone strikes are stressing their air defence capabilities. Residents of Kyiv heard air raid sirens for most of the night, which culminated in shelling. Rescue workers are once again trying to clean up the debris.
