Ukraine official says 27 killed in Russian strikes in Kyiv region

At least 27 people were killed and 42 injured in Russian airstrikes across Ukraine’s Kyiv region late Friday, a Ukrainian regional official said.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration posted on Telegram that the casualties were recorded in multiple locations in the Bucha district. He said emergency and other response services were working at the affected sites.

“We are coordinating all responsible services on site. Unfortunately, as of now, 27 deaths are known. And this figure may not be final. I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones,” Tkachenko said in a statement.

Among those killed was Taras Didych, head of the Dmytrivska community, Tkachenko said. Didych was among the first officials to reach the scene after the attack, he said.

“As it became known recently, among the dead is the head of the Dmytrivska community, Taras Didych,” Tkachenko said. “This is a great loss for our region.”
The reported casualties came as Russia continued its aerial attacks on the Kyiv region. Earlier Friday, Ukrainian officials said Russian strikes had damaged warehouses, homes, apartment buildings and vehicles across the region. The Associated Press reported that one person was killed and two injured in Friday’s attacks, based on officials’ earlier figures.
