South Kashmir cricketer Javid Lone dies of heart attack
Anantnag: A well-known cricketer and paint artist, Javid Ahmed Sofi, popularly known as “Lone,” died of a suspected heart attack at his home in Anzwalla village of Anantnag district on Thursday morning.
Lone, a resident of Lone Mohalla, was known in the area for his humble, kind and helpful nature. He was also a familiar face on the local cricket field and was associated with HD Designs as a paint artist.
According to family sources, Sofi had gone to sleep normally on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, when his wife went upstairs to wake him, she found him unresponsive. Alarmed, she called other family members, following which neighbours rushed him to a nearby hospital. Doctors, however, declared him brought dead.
The sudden death has sent shockwaves through Anzwalla and surrounding areas. Friends, neighbours and fellow cricketers have been visiting the bereaved family and recalling Lone as a talented sportsman, a skilled artist and a person known for his gentle and helpful disposition.
Lone is survived by his wife, two minor children, a son and a daughter, besides his parents and grandmother.
His untimely death has left the local cricket community and residents mourning the loss of a young and much-loved member of the community.
