According to Russian media, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday for talks aimed at reviving efforts to end Russia’s conflict with Ukraine. The two envoys met with the  Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev.

A deal between Moscow and Kyiv will be mediated by the administration of President Donald Trump. Trump said Friday that Witkoff and Kushner were travelling with a “concrete proposal” for peace but the details of the proposal have not been made public.

Kushner and Witkoff are expected to meet with Russian officials, including possibly Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are scheduled to fly to Kyiv on Sunday for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The diplomatic drive comes amid continuing fighting and high tensions. Russia and Ukraine have seen an escalation in drone and missile attacks in recent days.

Russia has stuck to its demands, including territorial concessions from Ukraine and Kyiv has declined terms it considers unacceptable. Previous negotiations mediated by the US have not resulted in a lasting agreement.
