Bodies of boy, girl recovered from power canal in Ganderbal
The bodies of a boy and a girl were recovered Monday from a power canal in the Thune area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.
The bodies were retrieved after a massive search operation by teams from Kangan police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Ganderbal and Gund, an official told news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
The two reportedly jumped into the hydropower canal earlier in the day, following which police and SDRF teams launched a search operation. Locals also helped with the rescue, according to officials.
The bodies were later recovered from the canal, officials said.
Police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further information was awaited.
